PR: North Ferriby vs Retford

North Ferriby FC host Retford FC hoping to start a new run of favourable results. The Villagers ended a 3 game stretch without a win when they beat FC Humber 2-1 on Bank Holiday Monday. Goals from Josh Whiteley and Danny East, from the penalty spot, were enough to seal the three points. When asked about his overall thoughts of the game, Chris Bolder said, “We have watched the video back and you can see that in the first half we are in control. The pitch meant that the end quality, especially crossing the ball was poor. We fell apart when they scored and didn’t really regain composure until fifteen minutes later when we scored. A win is a win and that’s important when you’ve not done so in the last three”.

It was a big win for the Villagers as they look to keep pressure on league leaders Hallam. The Sheffield based club are currently a point ahead of Ferriby. The Villagers know that any slip up from the league leaders is their way back to the summit.

In Retford, the Villagers face the side positioned in 7th place. Retford have a reputation as being a side that are always hard to break down. They come into the game unbeaten in their last three. The last of these being a 2-2 draw with Selby. Alex Wonham is their top goal scorer with 8 goals to his name. When the clubs last met they were separated by a second half Tom Corner goal. This was the sides third meeting with each other. The other two meetings in the 2019/20 both ended in goalless draws, again emphasising how tough this game will be for Bolder’s men. Bolder shared his thoughts ahead of the game,  “They had a decent result last time out against Selby. They are a resolute side and that shows with them only having lost three times away all season. It’s going to be another tough test for us”.

The Villagers are hopeful Josh Dennett will return. Matty Plummer should be in consideration as will Danny Buttle.
