PR: Hall Road vs Selby Town

A big test is coming up for Hall Road Rangers on Saturday when they welcome 4th placed Selby Town to Haworth Park. As it stands, both sides are separated by ten points and eight places in the league table. A win for Rangers could move them up into 11th place and leave them just seven points adrift of Selby.

The Robins are currently on a seven-game unbeaten run and have won their last six league games on the bounce. Christian Fox’s side have fared well on their travels so far this season with six wins out of their ten away games. Moreover, the Robins have won their last three away games at Clipstone FC, Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and Nostell Miners Welfare respectively.

Meanwhile, Rangers still possess plenty of positive momentum after their 0-4 win at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic last Saturday. Hall Road’s recent home record can give them further encouragement as they’ve only lost one of their last four league games at Haworth Park.

There’ll also be a little bit of revenge on Hall Road’s mind having lost out to the Robins in the previous league meeting between the sides in August. Selby ran out 5-1 winners at the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium that night.

Liam Flanagan is the main danger man for Selby as he has 21 goals in all competitions. Flanagan got on the scoresheet in the aforementioned reverse fixture and has scored seven goals in his last six games. Harry Clapham also bagged a goal against Rangers back in August and he has a tally of 13 goals to his name so far this season.

Rangers joint boss Leon Sewell is aware of the challenge that Selby will pose to his side.

“This upcoming game against Selby Town brings a big challenge for us. They’re in the play-off places pushing hard and know how to score goals. However, they’ve lost a couple of big name players despite also signing a couple of new faces in Jody Barford and Chris Murray. Jody and Chris both served myself and Hall Road Rangers over the last three seasons since I took over.

We asked for a reaction at Worsbrough Bridge and we got it. Saturday is all about us carrying on that reaction and looking to make it two games unbeaten as we near the end of 2021″ Sewell said.
