PR: Hall Road vs Glasshoughton

Hall Road Rangers are aiming to secure a fourth successive league win on Saturday as they welcome Glasshoughton Welfare to Haworth Park. Rangers sit just above Glasshoughton in the NCEL Division One table and both sides are separated from each other by just one point.

Welfare have a total of 28 points from their first 20 league games. They’ve won eight, drawn four and lost eight. Managed by Darren Holmes and Lee Vigars, Glasshoughton have lost five of their ten away games. Moreover, they’ve picked up three wins and two draws. Lewis Stephens provides the most potent goal threat in Welfare’s squad as he has 12 league goals. One of these goals came against Rangers in the previous league meeting between these sides which took place in August and finished up as a 2-1 win for Glasshoughton.

Hall Road joint-manager Leon Sewell wants his players to keep their positive run going.

“We’re on a good run of results at the moment being seven games unbeaten and picking up three clean sheets in our last four games. Of course, it helps the self-belief throughout the squad. We’re now going in the right direction, but we’re keeping our feet well and truly on the ground and know that we’ll have to give Glasshoughton our full respect.

We’re side by side in the league table so both teams will go into the game with optimism that the points’ll be heading their way.  We’ll be getting the lads ready for the game so, by the time we reach three o’clock on Saturday, they’ll be prepared for the challenge ahead” he said.
