PR: Hall Road vs FC Humber United

Hall Road Rangers are set for a crucial home game on Saturday afternoon as they welcome FC Humber United to Haworth Park.

Rangers are looking for some important points which’d help them edge slightly further up the table. In fact, a win against FC Humber would move Rangers up into fourteenth place. Despite losing 3-0 at Brigg Town in their last game, there were a number of positives to take from a Hall Road perspective. The main takeaway from the match itself was that chances must be taken in order to get the results that are needed.

FC Humber are in seventeenth place in the league table and have collected ten points from their first 16 games. They had been on a 14 game winless run since their 7-1 opening day victory over Dronfield Town. However, Humber brought this run to an end in midweek by beating Brigg Town 5-4 thanks to an Eddie Wileman hat trick and a brace from Szymon Czubik.

Consequently, this means that there are currently just two places between Hall Road and FC Humber in the NCEL Division One table and a three-point gap heading into Saturday’s game.

Humber are one of four teams who’ve failed to pick up a win on their travels so far this season. Specifically, they’ve drawn one and lost six of their seven away games. In terms of goal scoring, they’ve got the fourth-best attack in the league having amassed a total of 38 goals so far this campaign. On the other hand, they possess the leakiest defence as they’ve conceded 72 goals.

This’ll be the second of three meetings between these sides this season. The first game took place in August in the First Round of the NCEL League Cup which Rangers won 2-3 at the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium. The third and final match which’ll be contested will take place next March.

Hall Road joint boss Leon Sewell says that his side are ready for the challenge that faces them.

“With a blank Saturday last week and training again this week, we’ve been working hard to put things right.

With only three points between us and FC Humber United, both sides’ll be looking to win the game and pull away from the lower reaches of the table.

There’ve been plenty of goals in Humber’s games so far so we’ll need to be on our guard to keep their attacking players at bay. At the same time, we have to make sure that we put enough pressure on their defence to make it pay.

It’ll be a challenge, but it’s something that the lads are fully capable of meeting. With home advantage, we’re looking to take all three points by 5pm on Saturday afternoon” Sewell said.
