PR: Hall Road vs Brigg Town

Hall Road Rangers are in NCEL Division One action on Saturday when they welcome title-chasing Brigg Town to Haworth Park. This is set to be a big challenge for Rangers. However, they know that they’re more than capable of picking up a result against any side on their day.

Brigg occupy 3rd place in the league table and are four points adrift of top of the table Hallam FC. Marcus Newell’s team are unbeaten in their last seven league games in which they’ve won six and drawn one. The Zebras possess the 3rd best away record in NCEL Division One with ten wins from 15 games on their travels.

With attacking options such as former Rangers players Josh Batty and Scott Phillips at their disposal, Brigg are the highest scorers in the league with 110 goals. Phillips has 36 goals in all competitions and Batty has a tally of 16 goals to his name. Meanwhile, Alfie Usher and Dayle Hutson are other threats in Brigg’s attack. Usher has 16 goals whilst Hutson has bagged 15 goals in all competitions.

Phillips got on the scoresheet in the previous league meeting between Brigg and Hall Road last October. Rangers lost out 3-0, but put in a good performance on the day. Hall Road joint boss Leon Sewell recognises that Brigg possess a lot of experience and quality in their squad.

“Brigg are having a great season and have assembled a good squad that boasts lots of experience and quality. Brigg won 2-0 in midweek in a tough local derby against Bottesford Town so we’ll have to be on our game to get a positive result.

We trained on Wednesday night and we looked really refreshed and had a good session that we’ll be looking to get straight into the flow of our game on Saturday” he said.
