Police have issued an appeal to trace relatives of a well-known retired teacher who was found dead in Beverley on Thursday last week (December 4th). Seventy-year-old Michael Nicholson, who had taught at Wolfreton School in Willerby was a well-known race walker and had the honour of carrying the Olympic torch through Beverley in 2012.
In a statement issued to Beverley FM, police said: “Mr Nicholson lived on Eden Road in the town. He was sadly found dead on Minster Yard North, near to Beverley Minster. His death isn’t being treated as suspicious.” It’s believed Mr Nicholson may have family living in Ireland and if anyone can help police trace next of kin they are asked to call them on 101 quoting log 145 of 04/01/18.
