Plea for extra climate change funding
Calls for East Riding of Yorkshire Council to declare a “climate emergency” have been rejected by the authority.
The council’s two Yorkshire Party councillors, supported by Liberal Democrats, had proposed the local authority took the step, saying it would drive home to residents the urgency of tackling global warming.
But the council’s ruling Conservative group has voted instead to write to the Government asking it to provide extra funding, saying East Yorkshire was already making great efforts to tackle global warming.
