Man dies after being hit by train in Beverley
British Transport Police have released further information on the tragic incident that occurred on the level crossing in Norwood, Beverley, yesterday morning (February 14).
In a statement issued today they said: “We were called at 8.30am on Thursday following reports a person had been hit by a train on the Beverley North level crossing. We can now confirm a man in his seventies from the local area, sadly died.
“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will now be prepared for the coroner.”
Northern Rail immediately suspended services after the incident and replacement buses were operating for a time. However, they later announced, around 10.30 in the morning, that all lines had reopened.
