Olympics star in Beverley
Britain’s most decorated female Olympian was in Beverley last week to visit the Busy Bees Nursery in Molescroft for its annual sports day. Rower Dame Katherine Grainger, who won gold at the 2012 London Olympics and four silver medals at games in Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, Athens and Bejing, has a nephew who attends the nursery.
She spent the day at the nursery showing off her medals and watching the youngsters have fun in a range of activities. “It wasn’t really about competing because the children are so young,” said nursery manager Fiona Garth. “It was all about the children having fun and letting them enjoy themselves.”
