Objections to plan for new bar

Beverley Civic Society has objected to a planning application which would see adjoining shops in Lairgate converted into one premises, housing a bar. The units, numbers 2 to 4 Lairgate, are currently occupied by Pasher Turkish Barber and a stationary shop owned by John Adams Limited. According to the Civic Society, the application, which has yet to go before committee, should be rejected. Derek Lidwell, of Beverley Civic Society, said: “There’s a proliferation of bars in the area. We are saying enough is enough.”
