North Ferriby 3-0 Bottesford

North Ferriby overcame Bottesford 2-0 in a competitive fixture at the Dransfield. A goal in each half wrapped up the points and made it seven league wins in a row for Chris Bolder’s side.

The Ferriby manager was able to name an unchanged starting eleven from the win at Goole.

There was a change on the bench as Danny Emerton replaced the ill Josh Dennett.

Before the game, the Dransfield stadium rose to its feet to show their respect for former North Ferriby youth player Thomas Dennett, who sadly lost his life over the festive period.

The Villagers showed a good passing game early on and created a chance for Danny Clarke, he was however offside so if the ball had gone in it wouldn’t have counted. Bottesford kept pressing the hosts and nearly reaped the rewards as a misjudged pass back to Lewis Exall was short and allowed Declan Bacon to race onto the ball. Exall rushed out and caught the attacker. Exall was booked for the challenge and the following free kick sailed just over the bar.

The Villagers were awarded a penalty when Oli Donald was brought down in the area. A cross was dropped by Bottesford goalkeeper Jordan Quibell. Donald was first to the ball and was brought down as Bottesford tried to clear their lines. Up stepped Josh Whiteley, who fired his strike left and sent Quibell the wrong way.

The Villagers went close early in the second half when a good run from Amir Berchil allowed him to play a smart pass to Danny Earl. Earl turned the defender and saw his shot go just wide of the post. Earl would go close again; the attacker created a chance from nothing as he ran with the ball and his shot cannoned off the bar.

Bottesford substitute Josh Fawcett was sent off for an off-the-ball incident with Danny Clarke.

The Villagers made sure of the three points near the death. A run from Oli Donald resulted in the Ferriby defender finding Danny Clarke who put the ball past Quibell and secure the victory for his side.

Chris Bolder shared his thoughts after the game, “the result is paramount, we’ve kept another clean sheet which is important to the lads, it wasn’t pretty, especially first half, they made life difficult for us, their system caused us a few issues, especially in regards to us being able to get out and play football and I think we were architects of our own downfall in the first half. At half time we managed to speak to the lads and tweak a few things and I thought we were much more dominant”.
