North Ferriby 2-0 Garforth Town

North Ferriby made it nine league wins in a row with a 2-0 victory over Garforth Town at the Dransfield Stadium. A goal in both halves was the difference as Bolder’s side also produced a fourth clean sheet in a row.

Chris Bolder made a couple of changes from his side’s win over Bottesford last time out. In came Tom Corner and recent signing T’Nique Fishley. Fishley, making his permanent debut for the club after a successful loan spell in August. Danny Emerton also made a return to the starting eleven alongside Josh Dennett.

It took the Villagers just 39 seconds to open the scoring. Oli Donald played a great ball into the box, which was flicked on by Tom Corner. Corners flick found Josh Whiteley who produced a good finish.

Garforth goalkeeper Toby Wells produced a couple of good saves to deny Ferriby from finding a second in the first half. First, denying Danny Emerton with a low save, secondly a great save denied Tom Corner with the ball looking to be going past the line.

The Villagers took their one-goal lead into the break and came out from the interval in search of a second goal. Danny Emerton fired a shot over the bar and Danny East couldn’t get on the end of a Niall Tilsley header. North Ferriby captain Niall Tilsley doubled his side’s advantage. The Villagers put the ball into the box and after a few bounces it fell to Tilsey who smashed the ball passed Wells. The visitors came close to pulling one back late on. Good build-up eventually gave Charlie Marshall the ball, Marshall found Thomas Dugdale whose effort went just wide of Lewis Exall’s goal.

North Ferriby boss Chris Bolder summed up his thoughts the game, “it’s another victory, which makes it nine a row. It’s some effort, some achievement from the squad of players. Conditions made it challenging, it wasn’t pretty, but I think we were in control, and I don’t think they had a shot on target till right at the death. We looked at what options we had available for us today and we went one way with our tactics, and I think we caused them a lot of problems their penalty area with our presence and the balls that were going in there, they found it very difficult”.
