Musical revival in Cherry Burton!

There’s a musical revival taking place in Cherry Burton, with a whole host of new events announced this week by Cherry Burton Arts.

The Creedence Collection kick things off on Saturday November 24 with a tribute to the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival and John Fogerty, including classic hits including “Bad Moon Rising”, “Have you Ever Seen the Rain” and “Up Around the Bend”.

Fogerty was CCR’s main songwriter, and went on to have a successful solo career with an enviable collection of songs – many covered by other great artists including Status Quo (Rockin’ all Over the World),  Tina Turner (Proud Mary) and the Carpenters (Jambalaya – On the Bayou).

Cherry Burton Arts organiser Martin Peirson told us: “The Creedence Collection are an exceptional ‘local’ band made up of great musicians fronted by Lynn Blakeston  and Rob Nicklas, who can draw on this stunning catalogue of songs and with their tight rocky sound producema fantastic evening’s entertainment!”

He added: “We have been given the opportunity to host this great night – I’ve seen the band live and was really impressed with the show.”

Gipsy jazz group Route De Django will launch the night. Tickets (£10) are available in advance from www.wegottickets.com,
Minster Records Beverley & Costcutter Cherry Burton.  Telephone reservation /info tel: 01964 551145,  or email martin@peirson.karoo.co.uk
