MP urges teachers to joint ambassador programme
Beverley MP Graham Stuart is encouraging teachers from across the area to apply for the UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme, taking place in Westminster this July. The free residential training opportunity will give educators a rare glimpse into Parliament’s inner workings and develops knowledge and skills that can be taken back into the classroom.
The scheme, which is available to all teachers and school leaders, features Q&A sessions with MPs and Peers, tours of the Palace of Westminster and a range of workshops designed to maximise teachers’ engagement in the mechanisms of Parliament.
Mr Stuart said: “This excellent, free initiative gives local teachers a unique opportunity to learn more about Parliament, to meet MPs and to ask questions before heading back to the classroom to pass on this knowledge. Only through such engagement can our schools develop young people who are politically-aware and who can contribute as much as possible to the future of our democracy. I encourage anyone interested to sign up for the programme by the closing date of Sunday April 8.”
