BEVERLEY Building Society has announced Dove House Hospice as its charity of the year for 2023, setting a target of £12,000 – a 30 per cent increase on the £9,250 raised for the Beverley Cherry Tree Centre in 2022. The society has kickstarted things with a £3,401 donation and has set up a JustGiving page for public donations as well as inviting people to contribute over the counter at its Saturday Market head office.

A society spokesperson told us: “We’ve got lots of fun-filled activities planned to support Dove House’s vital work throughout 2023, from branch promotions to supporting the charity’s programme of events and also by volunteering in a variety of ways.” And Jethro Shearring, Dove House Senior Fundraiser, said: “Every pound raised will help to make such a special difference to patients and families accessing hospice care.”

He continued: “Following the crippling effects of the pandemic and in the current economic climate, support in this way is more vital than ever before. With only limited central funding available, it is only through the generosity of the local community and organisations such as Beverley Building Society, that the hospice can continue to provide specialist care to so many across Hull and East Yorkshire who need it most.”
