PLANS to create a new Beverley youth club using three redundant steel containers are being supported by Beverley Town Council. The plans have been submitted to East Riding Council by the Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre, who say the containers will be joined together to form a single unusable space with a kitchen, toilet, storeroom and conservatory.

If given the go-ahead the new Cherry Tree Youth Club will be located adjacent to Beverley Rugby Club’s clubhouse at Norwood and would cater for up to 30 children at any one time. The proposed opening hours are 4 – 9pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 5pm on Saturdays. The application is awaiting consideration by East Riding Planning Committee but has the backing of the Town Council.

BEVERLEY Town Council has raised concerns over plans by Ward Homes Yorkshire to demolish a bungalow in Grosvenor Place and build three new properties, describing the proposals as “over-development of the plot, especially due to the sensitive nature of the site, which is directly adjacent to The Westwood”.

The plans are currently before East Riding Council but are an agenda item on tomorrow night’s Town Council planning committee. The plans are for two houses and a bungalow on the site.

VOICE TRIALS are being held for children aged 7 – 13 to sing in the choirs of Beverley Minster. They will be held on Sunday February 12 and Sunday March 12. More details here
