BEVERLEY Building Society has already surpassed the half-way point in its bid to raise £12,000 for its charity of the year, Dove House Hospice. The current total, as of today, stands at £6,259. A number of initiatives have already taken place, including an Easter Egg Appeal and building society staff are contributing monthly direct debit donations from their salaries as well as taking part in Dress Down Fridays.
The society has already donated £2,000 to Dove House to buy 40 chairs for visitors to the hospice along with three new mattresses. A spokesperson told us: “Unfortunately, the hospice only receives the equivalent of 10% of its funding from Government, which would cover less than 40 days running costs annually, so it shows just how vital the support of charity partnerships and local people are in ensuring all areas of the charity’s care are maintained.” More details here
RAIL SERVICES operated by TransPennine Express were brought under Government control at the weekend following poor performance by the operating company. Services are now running under a new brand, named TransPennine Trains, although fares, timetables and staff are unchanged.
AN OPEN DAY takes place this Saturday at Beverley Leisure Centre from 12 noon to 6pm. The gym has been closed since last Monday and remains closed during this week to allow for the installation of new equipment. More details here
