New Government research shows that East Yorkshire has the highest proportion of parents amongst adults receiving help for problematic alcohol and drug abuse in the country. The latest data by Public Health England showed that 40% of adults who started treatment in our area last year were parents. Officials at the UK Addiction Treatment Group told Beverley FM that these figures represent the bravery of parents who have asked for help, but that it could be just the tip of the iceberg because research indicates that 8 out of 10 parents with addiction problems are not seeking help.

This week sees a bid to help reduce the number of victims of fraud in our area, using a brand new Facebook group: The Humberside Police Fraud Awareness Group. And from today the force Economic Crime Unit is taking over the page for a week to offer specialist advice and to share useful hints and tips. Officials told us they want group members to share details of fraudulent calls, texts and emails to raise awareness of the techniques being used locally by fraudsters.

It comes to Beverley on 14th July. Comments can be made online via www.eastriding.gov.uk/localplanupdate
