An extended 10-week consultation is due to start at the end of May into the future plans for developments in the East Riding. It’s part of a review into the Local Plan, which looks at how the county will develop. The current plan requires an extra 1,100 houses to be built each year. The consultation will be mainly online but the council says they will use a number of methods to reach people not on the internet.

Police in East Yorkshire say dog walkers who let their pets off the lead on farmland must keep their animals under control. It follows a report that a landowner received abuse from a dog owner whose animals were disturbing sheep.

Officers warn dog owners that it’s a criminal offence to worry livestock on farmland. They say dogs must be kept in sight at all times.
