TEN-YEAR-OLD Miller Ketley, from Leven, who’s been growing his hair for the past two years, is planning to have his head shaved in aid of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hull Women’s and Children’s Hospital. His hair will also be donated to the Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children suffering from cancer.

The NICU team helped Miller’s family when his parents sadly lost two children, Mason and Miles, before Miller and his sister Elysse were born.
Miller (pictured) will be guest of honour at a fund-raising event at the New Inn in Leven this Saturday when the winning bidder in an auction will be the one to cut his hair. A full programme of activities is planned at the pub, from 2pm til late, including a bouncy castle and barbecue, with the head shave scheduled to take place at 5pm.
Miller’s mum Amy is appealing for raffle prizes to boost his efforts and told Beverley FM her son wanted to complete the challenge after his cousin, Riley, started to grow his hair for the same causes but sadly lost his life in a road accident in April 2021. She can be contacted on 07812 194442.

UNIQUE ARTWORK measuring seven metres in diameter and created from detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface, allowing us to view planet Earth floating in three dimensions, will go on display in Beverley Minster later this year.
The artwork, by artist Luke Jerram, revolves slowly, accompanied by a surround sound composition by BAFTA award winning composer Dan Jones. It will be on display from September 8 to October 1.
FLEMINGATE’S newest store, Shoezone, opens for business this Saturday.
