A field in Brandesburton has been transformed into a purpose-built adventure camping site thanks to an army of volunteers working with the BBC’s DIY SOS team. The completed project was shown to some of the volunteers on Friday and will feature in The Big Build for Children in Need when it airs next month. Over ten days, huge numbers of local tradespeople, including builders, joiners and plumbers, volunteered to join the DIY SOS team at the field in Hempholme Lane. It was created for the St Michael’s Youth Project, based in Hull, and will be used by youth groups, schools and for organised events.

One of Oxford University’s leading mixed-voice choirs is spending a week in Beverley ahead of a concert in St Mary’s in aid of the church restoration fund. The concert, by the choir of Keble College, on Thursday September 30 is free, with a collection for the restoration fund. Audience numbers have been limited to 150 and can be booked via stmarysbeverley.org
