Local clinical leaders are praising the phenomenal local vaccine effort with 40,000 people in Hull and East Riding receiving their booster vaccination in the last 10 days. Now, new local vaccine sites have being added from today, including Ennerdale Leisure Centre in Hull, to be joined by Beverley Racecourse in the next day or two. Together they will offer thousands of additional appointments.

In addition to the new site at Ennerdale, vaccine appointments are available in Hull at the MKM Stadium, which has increased its daily appointments from 1500 to 2000.

Dr Anne Jeffreys, local GP and East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group chairperson, told Beverley FM: “I’m delighted to announce Beverley Racecourse will once again be opening as a vaccination centre to help drive the national effort to vaccinate people with the booster. I would encourage everyone who is eligible to visit the National Booking Service to book their guaranteed appointment. People should regularly check the service to see availability in their local area, as new appointments are added daily.”

East Riding Council’s licensing team are warning people to be wary of bogus taxi drivers as they head out to celebrate over the festive period. In particular they warn partygoers not be seek transport known as “lifts” through social media.

A spokesman told us: “During the festive season, the licensing team receives an increase in reports of bogus vehicles purporting to be legitimate taxi services. With potentially hundreds of Christmas parties taking place, anyone who travels by taxi should make sure it is a licensed taxi service or private hire car before they make their journey.”
