Beverley’s Tesco supermarket has donated a total of £3,000 to three local good causes. The Daisy Appeal, which is still looking to raise another £1.2 million to fund a new unit to improve detection rates for cancer, heart disease and dementia in Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, received £1,000. Also receiving £1,000 each were Beverley RUFC, towards the cost of an outdoor shelter, and the charity R-Evolution, whose plans included improvements to the town’s Coronation Gardens.

East Yorkshire Buses have appealed to all passengers to continue to wear face coverings, despite the Government’s lifting of restrictions from today. A spokesman told Beverley FM: “We are still encouraging all customers to wear them out of consideration for our drivers and other passengers, especially as COVID infection rates are relatively high in our area at the moment.” Services also continue to be impacted by by the sheer number of people being pinged after coming into contact with a COVID case.

And finally, East Riding Leisure says customers at Beverley Leisure Centre will no longer need to book swimming or gym lessons from today following the lifting of social distancing rules. Changing rooms, showers, steam rooms and saunas will all reopen
