ONE OF THE highlights of East Yorkshire’s events calendar will be even more special this year when Wednesday’s Driffield Show will be graced by a visit by the Duchess of Edinburgh. Now in its 147th year, Driffield Show is one of the country’s largest annual one-day agricultural shows, attracting over 25,000 people.
The Duchess is passionate about food and farming and is Patron of the Association of Show and Agricultural Organisations as well as the Driffield Agricultural Society’s President.
PAUL ANDERSON, the current Deputy Chief Constable of Humberside Police, has been confirmed as the Force’s new Chief Constable and will succeed Lee Freeman on August 1.
PARENTS and carers looking for ways to keep the kids entertained during the summer holidays can choose from more than 1,500 activities as part of East Riding Council’s Schools Out programme. Designed to cater to children of all ages and abilities, this year’s Schools Out programme includes a range of fun activities, many of them free. Full details here
