BEVERLEY MP Graham Stuart met Leven Primary School’s “Global Ambassadors” during a visit to the school, learning about the ways they help people in need, both in Leven and in different countries around the world.
The Global Ambassadors programme is comprised of two students from each year group, from Year 1 to Year 6. A recent effort involved a bake sale, organised just a couple of days before his visit to raise money for Christian Aid. “It was inspiring to hear about their work in the community,” Mr Stuart told us.
BEVERLEY’S St Mary’s Church is hoping to run a Summer Club for primary school-aged children in the area. “We intend to support families who are struggling financially and help give the children a healthy hot meal,” a spokesperson told us.
The hope is that the club will run for three weeks from July 24 at a venue in Hull. “We will be arranging fun and educational activities and outings for the children. We would love to have volunteers from St. Mary’s involved in this club, it is a chance to really make a difference to children who need support in our area,” the spokesperson said.
FIREFIGHTERS at Beverley Fire Station take part in their annual charity car wash this Saturday, from 10am to 3pm. “Come and get your car washed and donate whatever you wish,” a spokesman told us. All monies raised will go to the national Firefighters Charity.
