SOME WELL-KNOWN faces are leaving Beverley Town Council at the May elections, with former Mayors Duncan Jack and Ann Willis stepping down, along with current councillors Ian Gow, Chloe Hopkins and David Tucker.
Former Mayors of Beverley David Elvidge and Margaret Pinder will be bidding to regain seats when elections are held on Thursday May 4. Those whose names will be on the ballot papers are as follows:
Minster North Ward: Peter Astell, Bob Morgan and John Rebecchi, who are standing for the Liberal-Democrats; David Elvidge, Conservative; Margaret Pinder, Labour; and Jackie Heffer (no political alliance).
Minster South Ward: Ron Laden and Tony Maione, Labour; Harry Bulmer, Conservative; Tom Astell, Graham Johnson, Adrian Ramsdale and Eliza Whitaker, Lib-Dems.
St Mary’s East Ward: Alison Healy, David Horsley, Linda Johnson and Pedro Regina, Lib-Dems; Peter Stevens, Conservative.
St Mary’s West Ward: Elaine Aird, Conservative; David Boynton, Cheryl Giles and Denis Healy, Lib-Dems.
POLICE are investigating a burglary at a flat in Simson Court, Beverley, in which prescription drugs were stolen. Community Support Officer Lee LeGrove said entry was gained to the flat via an unsecured door and the drugs taken from the hallway of the property.
