Minster’s starring role in BBC drama
Beverley Minster has a starring role in a new 90-minute drama being screened on BBC2 this week. The Minster has yet again been chosen to double as Westminster Abbey for the fictional drama King Charles III, which imagines the death of the present Queen, the reign of a new king and a constitutional crisis. Filming took place in the town last November when the cast included Tim Pigott-Smith, who sadly died last month.
The drama was due to be screened this Wednesday (May 10th) at 9pm and will be available afterwards on BBC iPlayer. The Minster’s assistant curate, the Reverend Gareth Atha, said the national exposure on TV that the Minster continued to enjoy was helping put Beverley on the map for more visitors.
