LOCAL RUGBY LEAGUE: Preparations on-going for next season
Beverley ARLFC are now in close season mode following their NCL Division 3 title and promotion-winning season. Attentions are now turning to life in NCL Division 2 and the make-up of that division.
The second automatic promotion place has been taken by Barrow Island and the third spot was taken by Clock Face Miners, who defeated Millom in the play-off final to claim the final spot.
Drighlington, Hunslet Warriors and Leigh East made up the bottom three in Division 2 and will be relegated whilst at the top Stanningley, Dewsbury Moor and Saddleworth will displace the three relegated sides from Division 1. Those sides being Ince Rose Bridge, Shaw Cross and Dudley Hill.
Should there be no close season resignations then the line up of Division 2 will be: Ince Rose Bridge, Shaw Cross, Dudley Hill, Crossfields, Askam, Wigan St Judes, East Leeds, Hull Dockers, West Bowling, Beverley, Barrow Island and Clock Face.
Meanwhile there are thought to be as many as eight new applicants for NCL membership for 2019. The RFL have not officially revealed the identities of the sides. The RFL are also seeking expressions of interest in another tier 4 competition known as the “Southern Premier League” aimed at sides competing in southerly-based regional leagues.
