Local Rugby League: Howay the Lads!

The Blue & Golds will hit the road again for for another long trip to face Gateshead Storm this Saturday. Now sitting four points clear at the top of NCL division 3, the odds are shortening on their promotion or title chances.

However both Scott Taylor and Pat Howdle have warned against the players getting carried away with their flying start to life in the NCL as there maybe plenty of potential banana skins ahead.

Beverley’s opponents on Saturday can certainly not be taken lightly. Although lying second to bottom in the table with only one win, the North East outfit have lost four of their games by 8 points or less.

Final selection of the 17 is likely to be delayed until the day of the match as the coaching assess the fitness of some players. At  least five players picked up minor knocks of which they will be given the maximum time to pull through. Phil Horsfield  and Duncan O’Connor will be in charge of first team affairs this Saturday.

Kick-off is at the earlier time of 12.30pm in order to avoid a clash with the Magic weekend in Newcastle. This will require an 8 am departure from the Potting Shed to allow for heavier than normal traffic.
