Humberside Police have warned local residents to be on their guard as fraudsters are targeting the elderly and vulnerable in East Yorkshire with over half of the victims being aged 75 to 89 and losing over £8000 each on average.
The fraudsters impersonate police or bank officials to persuade people to part with large sums of money or expensive items. A courier is then sent to collect the cash or goods.
From Courier fraud to a fishy fellony in which a 28-year-old East Yorkshire man has been arrested and charged after selling seafood door-to-door, taking the money but not returning with their purchases.
And The East Riding Council is holding an information event this evening to help recruit new foster carers for children and young people. It’s happening at the Tickton Grange Hotel from six to eight PM and organisers say the only qualifications needed are a spare room and a willingness to commit to a child’s well-being.
