LOCAL FOOTBALL: Town back in the cup!

Beverley Town are in the hat for the Quarter Finals of the East Riding Senior Cup despite being beaten two-nil in an earlier round by Dunswell-based East Yorkshire Carnegie. Town manager Rich Jagger told Beverley FM the club had been reinstated by the county FA after investigating allegations that the home side had fielded an ineligible player.

Jagger explained: “It was alleged that East Yorkshire Carnegie fielded a cup tied player, who had played in the previous round of the cup. The county FA subsequently contacted us to inform us that the breach of rules has been confirmed, and that East Yorkshire Carnegie have been removed from the competition.” Among other sides left in the competition are Hull City.
