LOCAL FOOTBALL: Injury blows for Town ahead of Cave encounter

Beverley Town bid to get back to winning ways against South Cave tomorrow (Saturday, September 9) at Hutton Cranswick. And although Cave are without a win so far this season and sit third bottom of the Humber Premier League with three points from five matches played, Town manager Rich Jagger is still expecting a tough encounter.

“We’re the victim of some tough injuries again, losing some key players, but notwithstanding that, I’m expecting a very even match. Results so far this season have shown everyone can beat anyone,” he told Beverley FM.

Major injury blows for Town to contend with are losing ex Hull City player Leon Dawson, out for at least three weeks with a hamstring injury, and Craig Muirhead, who’s been on goalscoring form so far this season, who is suffering a groin strain.

Last time out Beverley lost a hard-fought encounter at last year’s Champions Crown, going down by the odd goal in three.

Kick-off at Hutton tomorrow is 2pm; Beverley FM will be getting an update from Rich Jagger after the game live on Saturday Sport. Simon Bromwich hosts the show from 3pm to 6pm with a round-up of local and national sport.
