LOCAL FOOTBALL: Humber Premier League round-up

Hedon Rangers 1 – 3 Beverley Town (Saturday September 22)

Goals from Joe Baxter, Joe Norton and Aldo Hysenaj saw Beverley come away with all three points in a competitive match against a good Hedon side. The result cements Town’s fourth-placed position in the Humber Premier league and with third-placed Reckitts losing 1-0 at home to second-placed Chalk Lane, it means Beverley are only one point behind Reckitts with a game in hand.

With cup matches next weekend, the next league fixture for Beverley is away at North Ferriby Athletic on October 6th.

South Cave United 0 –  1 AFC Walkington (Saturday September 22)

Seven games into the season, this was Walkington’s first win, lifting them one place up the table. They now sit third from bottom on five points.

After a disappointing opening to the season and a 5-3 thrashing at home last week, some harsh words have been said over a perceived discipline problem within the Walkington side, but this was the perfect response against a decent South Cave team, who sit in seventh place.
