LOCAL FOOTBALL: Beverley move to strengthen side after defeat

Reckitts 4 – 1 Beverley Town (Saturday September 8)

Beverley Town lost ground on the leaders of the Humber Premier League, losing out 4-1 in a tough away fixture against Reckitts, who moves up to second place in the league as a result of this win.

Beverley, who had won three off their previous four matches, remain in fifth. They had expected the 3G surface at Hull University to suit their style of play but on the door it was a poor performance from the team as a whole and the result was a fair reflection of the play.

Yesterday (Sunday) the club moved to strengthen their side by signing the highly-rated Jez Hartley The 21 year old joins us from last year;’s champions Chalk Lane and will be a very good addition to our squad.

AFC Walkington, who’ve had a poor start top the season, with just one point from five games, were on their travels too, playing at Hessle Rangers. And although still without a win they did at least pick up another point in a 1-1 draw.
