LOCAL FOOTBALL: 6 for Muirhead as Beverley go second

Beverley Town 7 – 1 Westella & Willerby (Saturday April 14)

Town striker Craig Muirhead set a new club goal-scoring record with six in this comprehensive victory over Westella & Willerby on the 3G surface at Bishop Burton. It beats the previous record of five goals scored by Tom Love v Chalk Lane four seasons ago. Substitute Alex Stark was the other scorer.

And with Pocklington losing their game it means Beverley go second in the Humber Premier League, although Pocklington still have a game in hand and fourth-placed Sculcoates Amateurs, who Beverley play in two weeks time, two games.

Completing a good weekend for Town, the club’s reserve side, who are top of the County Premier League, chalked up a 3-1 win against Sculcoates Amateur Reserves in the second round of the H E Dean Cup – the tie being played on the 3G pitch at Longcroft.

* In their game Walkington completed a 5-2 home win over bottom club East Riding Rangers – Walkington are now sixth in the Humber Premier League
