Local cricket: Launching of The Godber Foundation

Cherry Burton Cricket Club has set up The Godber Foundation in honour of their former chairman Ashley Godber, a Beverley businessman and enthusiastic cricketer, who died in a road accident en route to play for the club earlier this year.

At the time of his death, Mr Godber was busy preparing to run the Hull 10k to raise £5,000 for youth development at Cherry Burton – a target subsequently met by family, friends and colleagues – and The Godber Foundation aims to build on his work by creating more cricketing opportunities, particularly in youth, women’s and disability cricket.

In support of this, a gala Cricket Evening – with Notts county cricket star Steven Mullaney and special guests – will be held at Lazaat, in Cottingham on February 3rd next year. The evening also includes a meal and a live band. For further details contact Chris Wilson on 07872 021 701.
