LOCAL CRICKET: Cup final defeat for Beverley
Beverley Cricket Club First XI came up well short in the final of the Yorkshire and District Cricket League’s Hunters Cup yesterday (Sunday). 2015 winners and current Premier League leaders Dunnington, who had home advantage, won the toss and put last year’s beaten finalists Beverley into bat.
Harry Gamble on 25 was top scorer, with Beverley bowled out for a modest total of 124 in. 36.5 overs. Dunnington then completed the run chase in just 27.5 overs for the loss of only four wickets.
The day before Beverley made the short trip to Driffield to play their 2nd XI in a league match; the game ending in a winning draw fir Beverley. Beverley won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 264 for 5 off their 50 overs. Ben Hatfield was top scorer with 121.
Driffield in reply could only amass 200 for 7 in their 50 overs. Beverley took 26 points and Driffield 12.
