LOCAL CRICKET: Beverley falter after decent start

Sixth-placed Beverley Town Cricket Club’s 1st XI took on third placed Folkton and Flizton at Norwood on Saturday (June 9th) in the Yorkshire and District Premier League. Beverley won the toss and elected to field – the opposition running up 209 runs for just five wickets in their 50 overs.

Beverley struggled to match their opponents after a decent start – openers Peter Shally and Harry Gamble putting on 77 before Gamble was run out having contributed 28 runs.

Shally went open to complete his half century before being caught and bowled on 52 when the score was 94 and after that there was a steady succession of wickets, with Beverley eventually all out for 156 in 46.2 overs.

Beverley took just five points from the game and Folkton and Flixton 30 points.
