Lakeminster caravans get the go-ahead
Plans to site up to 127 caravans for holiday use at Lakeminster Park in Hull Road, Woodmansey, have been approved by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The decision comes after a six-year planning and legal battle over the previous use of the site for residential park homes. That ended with most of the residents leaving the site after losing appeals against the refusal of planning permission by the council.
Neither Woodmansey Parish Council nor Beverley Town Council opposed the application by Lakeminster Park Limited; Woodmansey councillors said the site had been used for holiday caravans for the past 40 years and represented a good economic benefit for the community. Beverley Council recorded no objection provided the site was closed in its entirety for one month each year.
Alternative plans for 159 caravans were deferred by East Riding Planning Committee after the Environment Agency raised a flood risk objection.
