Kitchen Assistant

The Old School House provides residential care to older people with Dementia. We seek committed, self-motivated and reliable individuals to deliver high quality catering support to our residents.

We currently have a vacancy for a Kitchen Assistant. One post of 12 hours per week including alternate weekends and some bank holidays. Hours of work are 2pm to 6pm.

Duties include working alongside the cook in the preparation of food, washing of pots etc. and general cleaning duties. You will also work with individuals to ensure the highest standard of dignity and independence are achieved.

The work will involve working in some difficult and complex situations, as presentations in dementia vary significantly. Behaviour management awareness, as well as caring and empathetic approaches are essential in meeting individual needs.

The role is challenging but extremely rewarding. If you enjoy working with people and have a desire to improve the quality of life for older people with dementia in residential care, then we would welcome your application.
