It’s Raft Race weekend on The Beck
Beverley’s annual charity raft race on The Beck takes place this Saturday, July 21, organised by the locally-based charity NURSE, which stands for Needed Urgent Remedial Special Equipment.
The charity was established more than 30 years ago and in that time has raised more than a quarter of a million pounds to fund much-needed medical equipment.
This will be the seventh annual raft race and a total of 16 rafts and their crews will be competing in heats that start from 12.30pm.
As usual there will be stalls and entertainment to keep the crowds entertainment, with the day getting underway at 11.30am. Beverley Mayor, Councillor Bryan Pearson, and his wife, Shirley, will choose the “best turned out raft”.
