Hull extend Naulago contract

Speedy winger Ratu Naulago will remain a Hull FC player until at least the end of the 2020 season with the Black & Whites exercising a one-year extension clause in the Fijian’s contract, the club announced this (Thursday) evening.

Naulago initially joined the club on trial after being scouted playing rugby union for the British Army, as well as Saracens in the Premiership 7s last year.

He impressed enough to sign a permanent contract earlier this season before going on to produce a string of eye-catching performances for Lee Radford’s side.

In total, Naulago has scored 10 tries in 13 appearances across all competitions for the Black & Whites, including some spectacular length-of-the-field efforts.

Naulago was also recently named the club’s SDG Cabling Player of the Month, as well as picking up the SS Testing Try of the Month Award.

The club have rewarded his good form by executing a clause in the player’s contract to extend his stay at the club into next season, whilst talks are also underway regarding a further contract extension beyond 2020.

He will be another useful addition to Hull’s exciting back line, which will also include new recruits Adam Swift and Mahe Fonua.

Hull FC Head Coach Lee Radford said: “I’m over the moon that Ratu will be staying with us until at least another year because he’s been showing nothing but huge strides in the right direction.

“If you compare where he was at back in pre-season to the way he is performing now, there is a phenomenal difference. One of the most exciting things is that he can still keep improving.

“There aren’t many players in this modern day in age who are so easy to coach. But Ratu is a great listener and he’s fantastic at adapting to different scenarios, so he’s got a very exciting future ahead of him at this club.”

In the meantime, tickets remain on sale and are selling fast for next Thursday’s ‘BIG Night Out’ clash with London Broncos.
