After the mid-week disappointment at Wigan, Hull City will be hoping for a result against Reading, who currently sit in the relegation zone. Reading, on the other hand, will see this as a winnable game to add to the single win they have got this season.

Youngster Daniel Batty will miss the game through injury, giving an opportunity for this season’s top scorer Jackson Irvine to start in the central midfield position.

After the recent signings of Chris Martin and Tommy Elphick, the starting line-up could be quite unpredictable, with manager Nigel Adkins having reshuffled the defence in recent games. This includes playing Reece Burke in the right-back position.

In the week, Adkins revealed that David Milinkovic needs to try harder in training to improve on the 96 minutes of game time he’s mustered this season.  If he has listened to that advice then there is a lot of competition for the left-wing position, with Todd Kane having played well there and natural wingers Kamil Grosicki and Milinkovic knocking on the door.

Reading have pacey striker Modou Barrow back in contention, as well as ex-Tigers Sone Aluko, Vito Mannone and Paul McShane who will want to get a chance to play against their old club, although David Meyler will miss out due to injury.

This game could be quite scrappy, with both teams playing poor football this season, a big reason as to why they are both languishing near the bottom of the Championship table.

Potential Starting XI (Formation: 4-2-3-1)
David Marshall, Eric Lichaj, Reece Burke, Tommy Elphick, Stephen Kingsley, Jackson Irvine, Markus Henriksen, Jarrod Bowen, Evandro, Todd Kane, Chris Martin
