Hull City 0-1 Coventry City

An early goal by Matt Godden condemned Hull City to a 1-0 defeat against Coventry City at the MKM Stadium. Grant McCann made four changes to his starting XI that faced Luton Town last time out. Josh Emmanuel, Andy Cannon, George Moncur and Tom Eaves all came into the starting team, while there were recalls on the bench for on-loan duo Ryan Longman and Matt Smith.

Coventry City opened the scoring on nine minutes as Godden headed in from close range from Ian Maatsen’s cross. The forward almost doubled his tally four minutes later, but Matt Ingram denied Godden one-on-one with an acrobatic save.

Di’Shon Bernard searched for an equaliser for the Tigers, but his headed attempt was held comfortably by Simon Moore. At the other end, Fankaty Dabo cut inside from the right-wing before seeing his curling shot blocked by Jacob Greaves.

Viktor Gyökeres had the next opportunity of the fixture, but Ingram produced a smart save to deny the Coventry forward. Moore did well in the other goal to save from Eaves, with the forward later being flagged for offside, before Moncur saw his attempt deflect into the arms of Moore. Moncur and Keane Lewis-Potter both took aim before half-time, but both of their efforts went wide of the target.
