Huge artwork to be unveiled
A huge artwork, measuring more than 20 metres in length, is to go on display at Beverley Art Gallery from this Saturday (October 21st). The digital artwork, by Gary Saunt, was commissioned by East Riding of Yorkshire Council as the latest stage of its contribution to Hull UK City of Culture and has been printed out on what is described as “vinyl wallpaper” which will be mounted around the walls.
A retired divisional commander for Humberside Fire and Rescue, Gary’s artwork takes the viewer on a cultural pilgrimage from Beverley to Hull. It incorporates the familiar and the strange, the historic and the contemporary, the real and the surreal and viewing it will reveal a host of celebrities, all en route for the City of Culture. The exhibition is free and runs until December the 2nd.
