Huddersfield Town 2-0 Hull City

Goals in each half condemned Hull City to a 2-0 defeat against Huddersfield Town at the John Smith Stadium. Tom Lees and Duane Holmes’ finishes helped secure the Terriers the three points in the Sky Bet Championship.

Grant McCann made four changes to the starting XI that defeated Middlesbrough last time out. George Honeyman made his first start of the season, while Callum Elder, Lewie Coyle and Mallik Wilks also started.

Matt Ingram produced two good saves early in the fixture to deny Huddersfield. The Tigers’ goalkeeper reacted sharply to block Lees’ header, before pushing Sorba Thomas’ cross behind. The hosts opened the scoring after nine minutes as Thomas’ set-piece wasn’t fully cleared as Lees converted from close range.

The Tigers started to dictate play as Andy Cannon saw his cross-shot parried by Lee Nicholls before the Huddersfield goalkeeper pushed away Keane Lewis-Potter’s curling free-kick. In the other goal, Ingram superbly clawed Danel Sinani’s deflected effort over the bar.
