Holly strikes gold!
Beverley judo ace Holly Betham struck gold for Team England at the Commonwealth Youth Games in The Bahamas. The Longcroft Sixth Former took the top honours in the 70kg Judo event, saying afterwards: “It feels amazing. It’s a very proud moment but I’m very tired. Things can always change on the day but I felt really strong. It was a good day all round.”
This was the first time judo had figured as part of the Commonwealth Youth Games and the England judo team topped the medals table with four golds and one bronze. Holly fights for the East Yorkshire Judo Academy in Beverley and is also part of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Talented Athlete Scheme.
