Beverley History – The Beverley Bank
Shown here is a rare photograph of the old Beverley Bank taken in 1861. Situated on North Bar Within, the building was demolished in the same year to make way for the new building that we now know as Barclays Bank. Early records suggest that the man in the top hat was the then manager, Mr Thomas Forge.
If you look carefully you’ll see a dog staring out of the upstairs left window presumably waiting for his lunch!
