Heritage award for Beverley Arms

There was success for Beverley in the annual East Riding of Yorkshire Council Chairman’s Awards, with the Beverley Arms receiving a “built heritage” award following its renovation and reopening in 2018. The awards are held to celebrate the contributions made by individuals and organisations in making the East Riding a better place and were hosted by BBC Look North presenter Claire Frisby.

In the category for community groups, the Beverley-based Volunteen Project, run by the East Riding Voluntary Action Service, was another recipient of a Chairman’s Award. Volunteen works with secondary schools, as well as a wide mixture of groups, and aims to help young people aged 11-25 to increase life skills, by introducing them to new and enjoyable social activities.

Shortlisted in the sporting achievement  category was Chantal Green, of Beverley, while Steve Ball Recruitment, of Beverley, was shortlisted in the category for businesses with under 50 employees.
