Hard-fought draw for Beverley on opening day on the season

Beverley Town 0 – 0 Reckitts (Saturday August 17)

Beverley kicked off their Humber Premier League season with a home match against Reckitts, although the game was played out at Hutton Cranswick because of cricket commitments at Norwood.

It was always going to be a tough match with Beverley third and Reckitts fourth in the league last season. And that’s how it played out.

Beverley kicked into a very strong wind in the first half, but coped well under some strong pressure. After the break it was Town on the ascendancy and they spent most of the 45 on the front foot.

Reckitts defended well up to the final whistle denying a great Beverley chance towards the end of the game.

Man of match for Beverley was Danny Mchale with a strong defensive performance.

Next up: Another home league game against Hornsea Town on Tuesday night (6.30pm kick-off) followed by an away trip to Driffield Juniors on Saturday.

WALKINGTON: Began their season with a 3-1 away defeat at Hedon Rangers.
